"Anyone can turn a color digital photo into a black and white photo with editing software such as Adobe Photoshop. But mastering the prorcess of capturing an image in black and white with just the right shadows and texture is not as easy and  I felt especially pleased with that book. On the oppoosite side of the equation, fine art nude images presented in radiant and vibrant color are an equally significant achievement." Harke began his artwork at a very young age when he used a No. 2 lead pencil to sketch portraits of his classmates in gradeschool. "I never dreamed back then that one day I would be using the most sophisticated camera equipment to present my subjects and must admit it is a huge jump from that stubby pencil and eraser I used back then. But the desire to capture my subjects by camera today is no different than the desire I held back then to sketch portraits. And yes, my subjects when I used a pencil were all girls. I suppose the greatest difference today, aside from the method I use, is that my subjects are presented nude and partially nude."

Who are the girls who appear in Harke's Beauty Revealed?  "They are girls from around the world. Clearly, most will be girls from the United States since that's where I do most of my work. But I travel extensively and there are models from England, France, Italy, Russia, Austria, Indonesia, the Carribean, and South Africa, whose images appear in this book." Speaking about the title he chose for the book, Harke said, "I toyed with several different ideas for the title, but ultimately I chose Beauty Revealed for the simplicity of what viewers will find in the book. Starting with the firm belief that the nude female form, when height and weight are proportionate, is one of the most beautiful designs found on earth, it isn't difficult at all to conclude that a book showing these lovely young women nude is, indeed, a revelation of great beauty. That seems to be, as they say, a no-brainer!" Harke added, "The primary differences that one willl see from page to page in this book, aside from the lovely physical attrilbutes of my models, are the back drops that I've used.

I find it so very important that my work be presented with signficantly varied back drops and I put a great deal of effort into finding different locations in which to work and reveal the beauty of my models!"
